A fire broke out at a warehouse in Nandalalpur area under Fatullah Police Station in Narayanganj yesterday morning, burning a huge amount of engine lubricant.

Cause of the fire could not be determined immediately.

The fire broke out at a Padma Group warehouse  around 11am. Hearing the news, fire service rushed to the spot.

Eleven firefighting units from different fire stations succeeded in controlling the blaze after a five-hour effort, said Sanaul Hoque, senior station officer of fire service's Narayanganj unit.

As engine lubricants are highly flammable, the fire spread quickly and fire fighters faced difficulties in controlling it, he said.

Talking to The Daily Star, the warehouse's supervisor Shajahan Khan said there is a steel mill at the back of the warehouse and the fire might have broken out from there.

The lubricants were worth Tk 6 crore, he added.
