A well-marked low over the Bay of Bengal is influencing rain all over Bangladesh, causing the sea to swell and trigger hoisting of cautionary signal no. 3.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department says, the low over north-west Bay and adjoining area now lies over coastal West Bengal & Odisha and adjoining northwest Bay.

It will be influencing light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind over Barisal, Chittagong, Sylhet, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Khulna. Moderately heavy falls are also expected at some places.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, centre of the low and thence north-eastwards to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.

Meanwhile, authorities have been asked to hoist cautionary signal no. 3 at the maritime ports of Chittagong, Mongla, Payra and Cox’s Bazar.

All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice. They have been asked not to get too deep into the sea.
