Blood samples sent to Sylhet livestock HQ for test
For Lulu Mia it was a disaster. First, he lost paddy of eight acres of land and now, six out of seven of his buffaloes following the flashflood in Nandail haor.
Lulu, a farmer at Batakandi village in Chhatak of Sunamganj, lost three of his livestock on Monday and the rest the previous day after they went to the haor waters for food, the correspondent reports quoting his relatives.

The buffaloes are used to dive into the haor waters and collect foods, but this time, they fell sick and died, Golam Mostafa, a cousin of Lulu, said.
Two more cattle died at Bhukhali village in Jagannathpur upazila of Sunamganj yesterday.
Following the deaths of livestock, concerns of locals rose even higher in the hoar areas at present.
Meanwhile, blood samples of six dead buffaloes have been sent to a lab at divisional livestock laboratory for testing to find out the cause behind the animals’ death, Dr Md Gias Uddin, deputy director Sylhet livestock department, told the correspondent in the morning.
A thorough examination of the blood samples are needed to determine their cause of death, said Dr Abdus Shaheed, veterinary surgeon of upazila livestock department.

On Monday, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission confirmed that the radiation levels in the water and the dead fish and ducks collected from the flashflood-hit haor region were within the permissible limits.
