Laden Bahini chief shot dead in Laxmipur

The bullet-hit body of chief of terror gang Laden Bahini was found in Laxmipur Sadar early yesterday.

Deceased Masum Billah alias Laden Masum, 36, of Laharkandi village, was accused in 28 cases, including  five for murder, said OC Md Mokhtar Hossain of Chandraganj Police Station.

Laden's wife Laizu Akhter said Laden, Saiful, Manna and Rakib were held from Tejgaon area in Dhaka on Saturday. 

On information, she went to Tejgaon Police Station and gave a large sum of money to a police officer for releasing her husband. 

After taking the money, police adopted a dilly dally tactics in releasing him, Laizu said, adding that police filed a case against Manna and Rakib and sent them to jail. 

She added police took her husband and Saiful from Dhaka to Laxmipur and killed them in a planned way. She said police cooked up the story of gunfight.

Getting tip-off about gunfight between two local gangs, led by Kala Masud and Shahadat, a police team went to Boter Pukur Par area. Sensing their presence, the miscreants fled the scene, said the OC.

Later, police recovered the bullet-hit body of Laden from the area, he said.

They also recovered four firearms, 22 bullet cartridges and 30 bombs, said the police official.
