Kurigram journo freed on bail

Journalist Anisur Rahman of daily Sangbad, who was arrested under Section 57 of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act on October 31 this year, was freed from Kurigram jail yesterday on bail.

“After rejection of Anisur's bail prayer in the Judicial Magistrate's Court on November 9 and the District and Sessions Judge's Court on November 21, he prayed for bail to the High Court, which granted him ad interim bail on December 14,” said Anisur's lawyer Ahsan Habib Nilu.

After receiving the bail order, he prayed for Anisur's bail to the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court, which followed the HC order and fixed bail bond of Tk 10,000, Nilu said.
