Kumudini in mourning

The Kumudini family arranged a condolence and prayer meeting at Kumudini Complex in Mirzapur upazila under the district yesterday seeking peace for the departed soul of Shreya Jha, a fifth year MBBS student of Kumudini Women's Medical College.

The Nepalese woman is among the 51 people who met tragic death in the US-Bangla plane crash in Nepal capital Kathmandu on Monday.

Teachers and students of Kumudini Women's Medical College, Kumudini Nursing School and College, Bharateswari Homes and officials of Kumudini Welfare Trust (BD) Ltd attended the meeting wearing black badges.

Several fellow students of Shreya burst into tears during the programme.

Razib Prosad Saha, managing director of Kumudini Welfare Trust, Prof Abdul Jalil, former principal of Kumudini Women's Medical College, Dr MA Halim, incumbent principal of the college, Dr Dulal Chandra Poddar, director of Kumudini Hospital, Rina Cruse, principal of Kumudini Nursing School and College, Hena Sultana, teacher of Bharateswari Homes, and a few fellow students of deceased Shreya spoke at the meeting.

Principal Protibha Mutsuddi, director of Kumudini Welfare Trust, presided over the programme.

Speakers at the meeting expressed their sympathy to the bereaved families of Shreya and other victims of the plane crash.

They observed one minute silence in memory of Shreya. 

Shreya, daughter of Luxman Jha of Mahotrari-3 in Nepal, went to Nepal to bid final farewell to her grandfather after getting his death news.

She started her journey to Nepal on an aircraft of US-Bangla Airlines from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 12:30pm on Monday and died along with others in the plane crash at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu around 2:15pm.
