Kid murdered for ransom

A six-year-old girl was found murdered yesterday, a day after she was abducted allegedly for ransom from Chandina upazila of Comilla on Wednesday.

The deceased, Suborna Akter Mim, a nursery student at Chandina Iqra Madrasa, was daughter of Korban Ali of Balasor area in the upazila.

Quoting the deceased's family members, police said Mim went out of her house around 12:00noon on Wednesday and did not return home.

Later, around 7:00pm, an unknown caller phoned Korban and demanded Tk 10 lakh ransom for his daughter's release.

Soon after receiving the call, Korban, a retired police constable, lodged a verbal complaint to Chandina Police Station in this regard.

Local people spotted Mim's body at Thangaon in the upazila yesterday morning and informed the police.

Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Ali Mahmud of Chandina Police Station said primarily they suspect that the girl might have been strangled.
