Khaleda given facilities under jail code: Minister

Refuting allegations that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was kept in an unhealthy condition in jail, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said she was provided facilities under the jail code.

Khaleda has been kept in a new building that was used as a day care centre and she has been given all the facilities under jail code, the minister told reporters after the 23rd anniversary programme of Bangladesh Coast Guard at the Coast Guard headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka.

"As the building was used as a central jail, it can, in no way, be unsafe," he added.

Regarding the visit of Myanmar home minister to Bangladesh, the minister said they will discuss about the Rohingya repatriation process and the progress on 10-point declaration that was inked during the visit of his visit to Myanmar.

“Although the Rohingyas are still entering Bangladesh, the number of the arrivals have significantly decreased and we hope that the number will come down to zero,” home minister said.

Home minister also assured the reporters that the culprits behind the question leak spree will be brought to justice.
