HC adjourns Khaleda’s bail pleas in 2 cases

The High Court today adjourned the hearing till tomorrow on the petitions filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia seeking bail in two cases.

The bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice JBM Hassan fixed 2:00pm tomorrow for resuming the hearing.

The judges started hearing at 2:25pm today on two petitions filed by Khaleda seeking bail in two cases filed in Comilla and Narail.

Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossainand Advocate AJ Mohammad Aliappeared before the court on her behalf.

One of the cases was filed by journalist KaziZahirul Islam on August 30, 2016, accusing Khaleda of observing birthday on August 15 on false information.

The other, a defamation suit, was filed by AB Siddique, president of Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad, on November 3, 2016, for allowing a Jamaat minister to use the national flag on their vehicle after BNP came to power in 2001.

Both the cases were filed with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court in Dhaka.

Khaleda was not granted bail in the two cases.

Meanwhile, the High Court was scheduled today to hear three other bail petitions filed by Khaleda on Sunday in connection with three other cases.
