Traffic congestion on most of the highways has lessened compared to the last few days as many holydaymakers have already reached their destinations with only two days left for the holy Eid-ul-Azha.

There is a 10-kilometre tailback on Dhaka-Tangail highway from Chandra of Gazipur to Mirzapur of Tangail. Vehicles are moving very slowly on the highway following the heavy rush of vehicle.

However, transport movement is slow on Dhaka-Aricha and Paturia-Daulatdia Ferry Ghat, Dhaka-Mawa Highway and Mawa-Kewrakandi Ferry Ghat.

Around 300 vehicles are waiting on the queue at Paturia end, reports our Manikganj correspondent adding that 16 ferries out of 19 are in operation at present.

A one and a half kilometers tailback has been created at Paturia and Daulatdia ghat each. Three ghats among the four at Daulatdia are functioning now as terminal No. 3 is closed following erosion by the river Padma.

Due to the upsurge of vehicles crossing the bridge, vehicular movement is slow on Dhaka-Mawa Highway, reports our Munshiganj correspondent.

About 500 vehicles are waiting on the queue at Shimulia on Mawa- Kewrakandi ferry route.

Unlike yesterday, there’s no gridlock on Dhaka- Chittagong highway and traffic is light. There is no tailback and vehicles are moving smoothly.
