Journos urge EC for fair, inclusive polls

Journalists have urged for a free, fair and inclusive parliamentary election at the meeting with Election Commission today ahead of the next polls.

“All the journalists advocated in favour of a fair and inclusive election,” Manzurul Ahsan Bulbul, a senior journalist, told reporters after the meeting.

According to another senior journalist Shyamal Dutta, opinions were also given in favour and against the deployment of armed forces and the provision of “no vote”.

All the journalists stressed on dialogue with the political parties.

The discussion started around 10:15am with around 22 senior journalists and editors at the Election Commission office in Agargaon, our correspondent reports from the spot.

Among the senior journalists and editors present in the discussion were Amanullah Kabir, Nurul Kabir, Kazi Siraj, Nayeem Nizam, Imdadul Haq Milon, Shyamal Dutta, Motiur Rahman Chowdhury.

Gradually, the Election Commission is expected to hold more meetings with other political parties and stakeholders in the follow through to the next parliamentary polls.
