Jessore hotel worker killed after rape

A female hotel worker was killed after 'rape' in Jessore town early yesterday.

Victim Chhaya Khatun, 19, worked at Babur Hotel owned by Mofizur Rahman Babu near Monihar Cinema Hall in the town. She was daughter of Iman Ali of Trimohini village in Sharsha upazila.

Police recovered the body from the second floor of the restaurant in the morning, said Taijul Islam, general secretary of Jessore district Hotel Restaurant Sweetmeat Bakery Workers' Union.

The body was bare and covered with a piece of cloth, he said.

Chhaya was stabbed to death, said AKM Azmal Huda, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.

Police picked up the hotel owner, his wife Nasima Khatun and restaurant employee Amena Begum for interrogation, said the OC.

Meanwhile, leaders of Jessore district unit Hotel Restaurant Sweetmeat Bakery Workers' Union held a protest rally, demanding immediate arrest of the killers of Chhaya.
