JS bodies to address sexual harassment of female expats

The parliamentary standing committee on home, foreign affairs and expatriate welfare and overseas employment will hold joint meeting to discuss repression and sexual harassment against Bangladeshi female workers abroad specially in Middle Eastern countries.

The parliamentary standing committee on foreign affairs today came up with the decision at a meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

Ruling Awami League lawmaker and chief of the parliamentary watchdog Col (retd) Faruk Khan chaired the meeting.

In the meeting, it was decided that the parliamentary standing committee on foreign affairs and expatriate welfare will hold a joint meeting soon and will prepare recommendations on how to stop repression and sexual harassment against migrant female domestic help in Middle eastern countries, committee sources said.

Committee members AK Abdul Momen, Shahriar Alam, Nurul Islam Nahid, Golam Faruk Khandaker Prince, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, among others were present at the meeting.
