Japan has expressed concern over the recent violence during campaigning for the upcoming Dhaka and Chittagong city corporation elections.

“We noted with concern the series of violence that have occurred during the election campaigning for the city corporation elections which are scheduled on April 28,” Japan Embassy in Dhaka said in a press release today.

“Whatever the cause may be, we believe such acts are great disservice to the public, to society and to the people seeking for successful election,” it added.

The embassy of Japan expects all the stakeholders to exercise utmost restraint and strive to play a constructive role to ensure the election campaign and elections to be conducted in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
