IPDC, Star honouring 7 unsung women nation builders

IPDC Finance Limited, in association with The Daily Star, is honouring seven women by giving them “Unsung Women Nation Builders Awards” today for their contributions to the socio-economic development of the country.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and Parveen Mahmud FCA, chairperson of the Micro Industries Development Assistance and Services (MIDAS), handed over the awards to the women.

The awardees are Dr Bhagya Rani Banik, director general of Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (Agriculture); child rights advocate Shahida Akhter Shorna (Courageous Act); Fatema Begum, additional inspector general of police (Courageous Act); Rokeya Begum, assistant teacher of Tambulkhana Govt Primary School (Education); Maftahul Jannat Likhon (Entrepreneurship); midwife Sunajan Akter (Health) and senior nurse Irani Baroi (Health).

The presentation ceremony was organised at Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh in Dhaka this evening.

The Daily Star Editor and Publisher Mahfuz Anam, IPDC Finance Limited Managing Director and CEO Mominul Islam and Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Haque were also present.
