The court also fixed today for recording deposition of four senior judicial magistrates, who recorded confessional statements of the five accused in the case under Section 164.

Among the witnesses, Dr Saidur Rahman, the then resident medical officer (RMO) of Tangail General Hospital, first gave his statement before the court of Abul Mansur Miah, acting judge of Tangail Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.

In his statement, Dr Saidur told the court that he performed the autopsy after Constable Mahbubur Rahman took the body of an unidentified woman, aged about 20, to the hospital on August 26.

He found injuries on the head and forehead of the slain girl's body which were the reason behind her death, the doctor said, adding that there were signs of recent forced sexual intercourse as well.

The three others, Kishore and Mannan, who were made witnesses during surothal (first inquest) report of the body, and Constable Hannan, during seizure of Rupa's vanity bag, also gave their statements before the court, said advocate Akbar Khan, a lawyer of Bangaldesh Manobadhikar Commission, which is providing assistance to the state side.
