Indian peacock rescued

Local people rescued a peacock from a maize field at Bejgram village in Hatibandha upazila of the district on Tuesday.

They later handed over the peacock to Hatibandha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO).

Rathindra Nath Roy, councillor of 8 no ward in the upazila, said villagers caught the peacock as it entered Bangladesh territory after crossing the border on Tuesday noon.

Hatibandha Upazila Nirbahi Office Syed Enamul Kabir said the rescued peacock would be handed over to the forest department soon.
