ICT finds war crimes evidence against 5 Jessore men

The Investigation Agency of the International Crimes Tribunal today said to have found evidence against five Jessore men including a local Awami League activist over the crimes committed during the Liberation War.

The accused, who allegedly joined Bahini, an auxiliary force of the Pakistani army during the war, were involved with the torture and killing of six people in Bagharpara Police Station area of Jessore.

Investigation Agency coordinator Abdul Hannan khan and Co-coordinator Sanaul Huq revealed the information at a press conference at its Dhanmondi office today.

Of the accused, Amjad Hossain Mollah, 77, is now in jail but the agency declined to reveal information of the other accused as they were not arrested yet.

Amjad was involved with Muslim League during the Liberation War but currently he is affiliated with the ruling party, the agency said.

The Investigation Agency will hand over the probe report and other documents to the chief prosecutor office tomorrow, they said.
