Humiliation of teacher: Shift GD to Dhaka CMM court, HC asks
The High Court today directed the chief judicial magistrate of Narayanganj to transfer the general diary (GD) lodged for public humiliation of headmaster Shyamal Kanti Bhakta to Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s (CMM) Court immediately.
The court also ordered the authorities concerned to submit the judicial probe report and other relevant documents on the incident to the Dhaka CMM court.
The CMM court has been directed to take next course of action in accordance with the law.
The HC bench of Justice Moinul Islam Chy and Justice JBM Hassan passed the order after going through the judicial probe report on the incident.
The court disposed of the suo moto ruling it issued on May 18 last year asking the government to explain in two weeks why it should not be directed to take necessary legal action against Salim Osman and others involved in humiliating the teacher.
On May 13 last year, Shyamal Kanti, the headmaster of Piyar Sattar Latif High School in Bandar area, was beaten up by a mob and made to do squats holding his ears in the presence of local Jatiya Party lawmaker AKM Salim Osman.
