The cabinet today approved the policy of the national human resource development fund under the finance ministry fixing a guideline to provide the money for training workers.

The finance department has already formed a company in this matter, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam told journalists after a cabinet meeting approved the policy today.

According to the policy, the fund will be used to finance multiple government and non-government organisations which will train up the people of Bangladesh in order to make them efficient.

The trainees will be selected from people who are differently-abled, indigenous, residents of haor areas, marginalised, street-children, unemployed, slum-dwellers, drop-outs and those going abroad, the cabinet secretary said.

Bangladesh loses billions of dollars importing skilled manpower for projects like EPZ but this way the government will be able to recruit domestic manpower, he said.
