Housewife ‘gang-raped’ in Ashulia

A housewife was reportedly gang-raped in Ashulia of Savar, on the outskirts area of Dhaka, last night.

Police arrested five people in connection with the incident hours after the victim lodged a complaint against seven people with Ashulia Police Station this morning, our Savar correspondent reports quoting a police official.

“We are interrogating the arrestees and continuing the drive to arrest the other accused,” said Javed Masud, inspector (investigation) of Ashulia Police Station.

Quoting victim and her family members, police said the seven people including the arrestees took the victim to an abandoned place in Goailbari last night promising to give her a good job.

“The perpetrators later ganged-raped her and released the victim early in the morning,” the police official said.

The victim was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for medical test, Inspector Javed Masud added.
