The storekeeper of 250-bed Patuakhali General Hospital was caught red handed with medicines for selling in the black market yesterday afternoon.

A guard caught him when he was going out with a carton of antibiotic injections worth Tk 28,800 from the store.

The authority formed a five-member probe body in this regard, said Dr Abdur Rahim, superintendent of the hospital.

Hospital source said storekeeper Harun-Or-Rashid was going out with a carton containing 96 pieces of antibiotic injections named 'Ultra Pine' to sell in the black market.

But on the way Md Zafor, guard of the store, challenged him and he tried to flee with the medicine. Then Zafor caught him with the medicines and informed the authorities.

"We seized the medicines. We have already formed a five-member probe body, headed by Dr Abdul Motin, assistant director of the hospital, to investigate the matter. The probe body has been asked to submit the report within seven days," the superintendent said.

Dr Abdul Motin said they asked the storekeeper to give his explanation on Saturday.
