HC order on petition over holding Ducsu election tomorrow

The High Court will deliver the judgement tomorrow on a writ petition filed seeking its directives on the authorities concerned to hold Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) election.

The HC bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan today fixed the date after concluding hearing on the petition.

On March 21, 2012, a total of 25 students of Dhaka University filed the writ petition seeking its directives on the authorities concerned to take immediate steps to hold Ducsu election.

The last elections to the Ducsu took place 27 years ago. Student organisations, especially the left leaning ones, demanded the polls on numerous occasions.

The last election to Ducsu was held on June 6, 1990.
