Thunder, rain showers likely in next 72hrs

As the country has been experiencing heavy rainfall brought by the Kalbaishakhi storm, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department today forecast that the rain and thunder showers activity is likely to continue across the country for the next 72hrs.

Light to moderate rain and thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty and squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, according to the Met office.

The Met office in its ‘Weather Forecast’ that is valid for 24hrs commencing at 9:00am today also forecast moderately heavy to very heavy (>89 mm) rainfalls and hails at isolated places across the country.

Meanwhile, it also issued an inland river port warning valid till 06:00pm today.

“In association with rain/thunder showers temporary west/north-wester’ly squalls speed 60-80 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna and Comilla wherein river ports shall hoist Riverine warning signal no Two (r) two,” the warning said.
