Hinting at a conspiracy regarding dengue outbreak around the country, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said there is no country in the world which does not have the viral disease.

This is not the first time, people have been diagnosed with dengue in Bangladesh but this year the disease has taken a serious turn, the minister said at a programme in Manikganj last night.

Apprehending that the disease may spread during the upcoming Eid, the minister said that the district administrators and civil surgeons have been asked to remain alert when Dhaka dwellers will be visiting families all over the country.

Citing examples of Singapore, America, India, Malaysia and Indonesia, the minister said that these countries have incidents of dengue too.

“So, there is no need to be alarmed, everything is under control on the issue of combating dengue,” he added.

He further said that the hospitals are already full of dengue patients. But if the patients’ number increases, measures have been taken to tackle that as well.”

“Everything that was required to be done for the sake of health management has been done,” he added.

The programme was arranged for the upcoming National Mourning Day, dengue awareness and other relevant issues.
