The High Court today directed the prison authorities to admit Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna to Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital in Dhaka immediately for his treatment.

The HC bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo came up with the order in response to a petition filed by Manna.

Manna, in his petition said, that he has been suffering from different diseases including cardiac problem and diabetes and he needs to be admitted at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital for better treatment, Deputy Attorney General Md Bashir Ullah told The Daily Star.

Law enforcers on February 24 last year detained Manna from a Banani residence in Dhaka a day after his phone conversations with BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka and an unnamed person surfaced in the media after they were leaked.

In one conversation, Manna, also former organising secretary of the ruling Awami League, is heard talking to Khoka and the other call was reportedly made to an unknown person. During this conversation, the man asked Manna if he would like to sit with top army officers to talk about bringing a changeover in the country.
