3 ‘robbers’ killed in Comilla, C’nawabganj ‘gunfights’

Three suspected robbers were killed in what law enforcers claimed gunfights in Comilla and Chapainawabganj districts early today.

Two of the robbers were killed in alleged gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Chapainawabganj while another in a “gun battle” with Comilla police.

In Chapainawabganj, the incident took place in Kuicchagada-Aadgaada area of Gomostapur upazila soon after midnight, reports our district correspondent.

A patrol-team of Rab was passing the Kuicchagada-Aadgaada area when a group of robbers started firing at them prompting the law enforcers to fire back triggering the “gunfight”,  Rab’s Chapainawabganj camp in-charge Squadron Leader Mohammad Syed Abdullah Al Murad said.

At one-stage of the gunfight, the two robbers came in line with the fire and died on the spot, the Rab official said.

Their identities could not be known yet.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.

In Comilla, a suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Susandha area of Muradnagar upazila of the district early today, according to UNB.

The deceased was identified as Al Amin, son of Sirajul Islam, a resident of Saliakandi village of the upazila.

Manjur Alam, officer-in-charge of Muradnagar Police Station, said tipped off, a team of detectives along with the police conducted a special drive around 1:30 am.

When the team reached the spot, a gang of robbers opened fire on them, prompting the policemen to shoot back.

Al Amin who suffered bullet injuries in the gunfight was declared dead after he was taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital.

The team recovered a pipe gun, two bullets, four sharp weapons and five masks.

The OC said that Al Amin was accused in nine cases filed with the police station.
