‘Gunfight’ in Sundarbans, 2 ‘robbers’ killed

Two alleged robbers of an infamous gang were killed in what lawmen described as gunfight in Sharankhola range of the Sundarbans early this morning.

The deceased were identified as Yousuf Fakir, second in-command of Abbas Bahini, and the gang’s member Ruhul Amin, our Bagerhat correspondent reports.

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-8 Commander Rajib, told The Daily Star the incident took place in Katlar Canal of Baleshwar River around 7:00am.

Seven local and foreign-made firearms, 124 rounds of bullets and other materials were found from the spot.
