Graft: MP Bodi gets bail upon surrender

Lawmaker from ruling Awami League, Abdur Rahman Bodi today secured bail upon surrendering in a case filed over concealing wealth statement in 2007.

Divisional Senior Special Judge Ruhul Amin granted him bail after Bodi appeared before the court and prayed for bail, our Chittagong staff correspondent reports.

The case, filed in 2007 by then Anti-Corruption Commission’s deputy director Abul Kalam Azad, said Bodi had concealed Tk 56 lakh wealth in a statement.

Case statements said, Bodi – then a municipality chairman and now a lawmaker from Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf – had accumulated illegal wealth of over Tk 79 lakh.

Charges against Bodi were pressed in this case on June 26, 2008.
