Graft case: HC adjourns hearing on Khaleda’s plea till Mar 1

The High Court today adjourned till March 1 the hearing on a revision petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia seeking its order on the trial court concerned to transfer the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case against her to another court.

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim, who were scheduled to resume the hearing today, passed the adjournment order after Khaleda’s lawyer Advocate AJ Mohammad sought time for submitting a supplementary petition before it.

On February 8, the BNP chief filed the petition with the HC also seeking a stay on the trial proceedings against her in the case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission.

In the petition, Khaleda said she submitted an application to the Special Judge’s Court-3 of Dhaka on February 2 expressing no confidence in the judge of that court on various grounds.

But Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of the Special Judge’s Court-3 of Dhaka rejected the no-confidence petition.

In the revision petition, Khaleda also challenged the lower court’s rejection order.
