GPA-5 holders, pass rate rise in Dinajpur

The number of GPA-5 holders and pass rate for Junior School Certificate (JSC) examinations saw a rise this year under Dinajpur Education Board.

The pass rate was 91.52 percent, up from the 90.10 achieved last year, said an official of the board yesterday.

As many as 19,143 students secured GPA-5 this year while the number was 14,420 in 2014.

Tofazzur Rahman, controller of the education board, said 21,3813 students from 3,094 high schools in eight northern districts appeared in the examination this year. The examination was held at 245 centres across the eight districts. Of them, 1,95,682 students passed the examination.

The pass rate for the JSC saw a rise of 1.42 percent since last year, he said. 

But the pass rate of female students was higher than for boys. Female students' pass rate was 91.96 while males' pass rate was 91.06 percent under Dinajpur Education Board.

The number of schools with a cent percent pass rate dropped this year.

This year 802 schools achieved a cent percent pass rate, down from 829 last year.
