The officials of different government bodies have called a meeting with water transport owners and workers this evening to discuss the ongoing indefinite river vessel strike imposed by the latter across the country.

The meeting will be held at the Department of Labor conference room in Dhaka at 7:30pm, sources at shipping ministry told to The Daily Star.

Water transport workers enforced an indefinite strike yesterday across the country to press home their 15-point demands including a minimum monthly wage of Tk 10,000, an increase in overtime pay, festival bonuses and other benefits, ensuring security and maintaining navigability of the waterways.
