Gonojagoron Mancha has called a countrywide six-hour hartal from 6:00am on Tuesday to protest killing of publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan and attack on three others.

“The hartal will be called off if law enforcers can arrest the perpetrators within the next 24 hours,” Gonojagoron Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker said.

Gonojagoron Mancha will also observe mourning day across the country tomorrow.

Imran made the announcement from a demonstration at Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka.

Several Dhaka University teachers, noted personalities, youth leaders and activists of the anti-war criminal platform joined the protest rally in front of the National Museum this afternoon.

Earlier, Imran H Sarker, spokesperson of the anti-war criminal platform, announced the protest programme last evening after the owner of Jagriti Prokashoni Faisal Arefin Dipan was stabbed dead at Aziz Market in Shahbagh following another publisher and two bloggers being knifed in the same manner at Lalmatia.

The attackers want to turn the country into the state of an extremist state, Sarker said at the programme.
