Girl student suffers burn

A female student of Comilla University suffered burn injuries in Salmanpur area under Sadar (South) upazila of the district early yesterday.

The victim, Fahmida Hasan Nisha, a student of Economics Department of the university, is now undergoing treatment at Comilla Medical College Hospital with 65 percent burn injuries, Dr Mirza Tayebul, head of the burn unit of the hospital, said.

Quoting witnesses, police said Nisha, who used to live at a students mess in the area, sustained the burn injuries while she was trying to switch on a gas oven around 6:00am.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abdullah-Al-Mamun said the reason behind the incident could not be known immediately.
