Girl found dead in septic tank

A teenage girl was found dead inside the septic tank of a local mosque in Laksam upazila of the district on Wednesday, three days after she went missing.

The deceased, Irin Akter, 18, was daughter of Rustam Mia of Koar village under Bakoi union.

Local people spotted the body, wrapped in a sack, inside the septic tank of Koar Pashchimpara Jame Masjid around 3:00pm and informed the police.

Bakoi Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Awal said Irin studied up to Class VIII but could not continue her study due to poverty. She was missing for the last three days, he said.

Officer-in-Charge of Laksham Police Station Abdullah Al Mahfuz said they recovered the body and sent it to Comilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
