Gambling stopped in Lalmonirhat

Local administration finally stopped gambling going on in the name of 'lucky coupon' at the month-long small and cottage industries fair at Collectorate ground in the town.

Following a complaint by townspeople, the gambling was stopped on Tuesday night, said Deputy Commissioner AFM Alauddin Khan.

State Minister for Social Welfare Md Nuruzzaman Ahmed inaugurated the fair on December 19.

Organisers of the fair started gambling in the name of lucky coupon from December 25 and it continued till January 3, said locals.
