Fox meat sold as mutton in Brahmanbaria, 2 held

Police today claimed to have detained two persons and seized around 30kg of fox meat from their possessions in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria.   

The detainees are identified as Arjat Ali, 22, and Madu Mia residents of Morakuri village in Lakhai upazila of Habiganj district, our local correspondent reports quoting police.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team went to Sarail Bishwaroad bus stand area and detained the duo while they were selling out the fox meat in the name of mutton in the area this afternoon.

After collecting the fox meat from one Al-Mezban, a butcher in East-Rampura of capital Dhaka, they supply the meat at different restaurants in Brahmanbaria in the name of mutton, Mainul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sarail Bishwaroad Highway Police Station, said quoting the detainees.

They already sold around 6 kg of meat at a restaurant in Kawtuli Bus Stand area of the Brahmanbaria town, the OC said adding that the seized meat included 20 kg fleshes and 10 kg livers.
