Four JMB men arrested with gunpowder

The Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested four alleged members of banned militant group Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Dapunia Kawalti area in Sadar upazila of the district early yesterday.

They also seized bomb making materials including gunpowder and books on jihad from their possession.

The arrestees are Alamgir Hossain, 22, Jahangir Hossain, 25, Hasan Ali, 22, and Billal Hossain, 43, of Dapunia area.

Informed that the JMB men were holding a clandestine meeting there to make preparation for sabotage ahead of Pahela Baishakh a police team raided the area around 3:00am and arrested the four, said Imarat Hossain Gazi, officer-in-charge of DB police in Mymensingh.

The arrestees have confessed to their involvement with the banned outfit, said the OC.

Two separate cases under Explosive Substances Act and Anti-terrorism Act were lodged with Kotwali Police Station in this connection.
