5 ‘drug traders’ held in Kadamtoli

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today claimed arrest of five drug traders from Dhaka’s Kadamtoli area.

The arrestees are: Md Iqbal Hosen, 50, a resident of Savar; Mehfuz Ahmed, 23, Ashik Hosen, 25, Abul Kashem, 27, and Md Kauser Hosen, 22, are residents of Keraniganj.

Acting on a tip-off, members of Rab-10 conducted a raid in Matuail Giridara Overbridge area at Kadamtoli and arrested the five persons with 10,400 yaba tablets, Ashrafi Tanzina, operations officer of Rab-10, said.

Two others – Kabir Ahmmed, 40, of Cox’s Bazar and Anisur Rahman, 30, of Keraniganj – managed to flee when the Rab members raided the area, she added.

The elite force seized 10,400 yaba tablets, a motorcycle, six mobile phones and Tk 2,02,580 in cash from the spot.

According to a Rab press release, the arrestees are professional drug traders. They used to supply drugs to different places in the country including Dhaka from Cox’s Bazar.
