Fire at Gazipur bicycle factory

A fire that broke out at a bicycle manufacturing factory of Meghna Group at Sreepur upazila in Gazipur has been brought under control.

There was no casualty in the incident, our Gazipur correspondent reports quoting Tosharaf Hossain, station officer of Sreepur Fire Service and Civil Defence.

On information, six fire fighting units rushed to the spot and managed to douse the blaze around 4:20pm, he said.

The fire might have originated from a compressor at Uniglory Component Cycle Industries Limited around 1:30pm, the fire service official said.

However, he could not ascertain the reason behind the fire.

Two rooms of the factory were gutted in the fire, said Additional District Magistrate Mohammed Hossain.
