On information, three units of Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control around noon, the CMP official said.

Nobody was injured in the fire.

Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) Jasim Uddin of Fire Service and Civil Defence Chittagong Headquarters said the fire originated from the server station due to heavy electric load and it spread immediately by the electric cables, engulfing the building with black smoke.

Meanwhile, a four-member probe committee was formed by CMP Commissioner Md Mahbubur Rahman to investigate the incident, Deputy Commissioner (DC) (Special Branch) Mokhlesur Rahman told The Daily Star.

“The committee headed by Additional Commissioner Amena Begum was asked to submit its report within three working days,” he said.

The other members of the committee are DC (DB) (North) Hasan Md Showkot Ali, DC (SB) and an official of fire service.
