Financing militant group: SC lawyer gets bail

HC clears way for her release from jail

Shakila Farjana
The High Court today granted bail to Supreme Court lawyer Shakila Farjana in two cases filed for her involvement in financing a militant outfit, clearing the way for her release from jail.

Shakila along with two other lawyers -- Hasanuzzaman Liton, who reportedly practise at the Supreme Court, and Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon -- were arrested from Dhanmondi area in Dhaka on August 18 last year for her alleged link in funding Shaheed Hamja Brigade, a Chittagong-based militant outfit.

The bench of Justice Farid Ahmed and Justice AKM Zahirul Hoque passed the order following two petitions filed by Shakila seeking bail in the cases.
