Fight over cricket puts youth at death risk

A youth was critically injured in a fight during a cricket game in the town yesterday afternoon.

The youth, Sheikh Shakil, 28, son of Sheikh Hira Mia, has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The incident took place in Sabujbag area in Maddhya-Medda of the town.

Hazera Begum, mother of Shakil, said her grandson Sagar was playing cricket in an open place in front of the house  with some boys, including neighbour Mehedi.

At one stage, Mehedi and Sagar started fighting.

Shakil went to stop them but local youths Jewel, Saddam and Parvez hacked Shakil with a machete, taking Mehedi's side.

Locals took Shakil to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital from where he was referred to DMCH.
