Faridpur youth dies in building collapse

A youth was killed and 17 others were injured as a tin-shed building of a school collapsed during a football match in Alfadanga upazila of Faridpur this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Md Rubel Hadi, 30, of Digalbana village in the upazila, reports a local correspondent.

People climbed on the rooftop of Belbana Government Primary School building to watch the final match of a local football tournament at the schoolyard around 5:00pm, said Nazmul Karim, officer-in-charge of Alfadanga Police Station.

At one state, the tin-shed building collapsed, leaving Hadi dead on the spot and 17 others injured, the police official said.

The injured were admitted to different local hospitals, he added.
