Fake medicine factory busted in Noakhali

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members busted a factory making fake medicines at Laxmipur village in Sadar upazila and arrested three people from there.

A gang had been illegally making medicines of different local and foreign companies for long and marketing those.

Acting on a tip-off, Rab-11 personnel conducted a drive at Laxmipur village under Char Matua union and unearthed the fake medicine manufacturing factory.

Executive Magistrate Sohel Rana led the drive. The court also seized medicine making equipment and apparatus worth about Tk one crore.

Rab men arrested the owner of the factory Akhter Hossain, 35, and his two employees. Akhter is son of late Aminul Haque of the area.

Rab-11 Company Commander Assistant Superintendent of Police Naresh Chakma said the mobile court in a drive arrested six people, including the manager, from the same factory in October last year and sent them to jail for two to three weeks.

The mobile court also sealed the factory.

A couple of weeks ago they entered the factory premises by breaking the back door and started manufacturing fake medicines again.
