Fake magistrate detained

Detective Branch (DB) of Police on Saturday night arrested a bank officer on charge of posing as a magistrate in Joypurhat town.

The arrestee, Raihan Billah Moinul Hasan, 38, senior officer of Uttara Bank's Motijheel branch in the capital, hails from Gokul village in Bogra Sadar upazila.

OC Monirul Islam of Joypurhat DB Police said Raihan went to the office of Joypurhat superintendent of police and introduced himself as an executive magistrate, attached with the Prime Minister's Office, and tried to pursue police to release a drug peddler.

Police detained him as he failed to show his identity card, he said.
