Extra money charged from HSC examinees

Authorities of different colleges in Barguna and Pirojpur allegedly took extra money from Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinees for admit cards.

Acting Principal Md Sirajul Islam of Abdul Khaleq BM College in Barguna's Amtali upazila charged money, ranging from Tk 1500 to Tk 2000, from all 67 examinees of the institution in the name of giving admit cards, reports our Patuakhali correspondent quoting the students.

HSC examinations will begin tomorrow.

Examinee Md Sumon said the principal took Tk 2,000 from him in the name of handing over the admit card yesterday noon.

Another examinee Maharunnesa said she had to pay Tk 1,500 for the admit card.

Md Sohag Mia, another examinee, said they paid all dues when they filled up the form about two months ago.

Abdul Khaleq, founder of the college, said some examinees and their guardians informed him about the matter. He has already asked the principal not to collect extra money from examinees.

Contacted, the principal said he was not taking extra money from examinees but he collected due money for filling up forms.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Sarwar Hossain, also the chairman of managing committee of the college, said there is no scope to take money for admit cards.

If it is true, action will be taken against the principal soon, he said.

Meanwhile, the authorities of different colleges in Pirojpur illegally charged Tk 500 from the examinees in the name of examination hall fees before giving them admit cards, reports our correspondent quoting the students.

The colleges include Pattashi Janakyllan Technical and Business Management College, Pattashi Janakyllan Technical and Business Management College and Indurkani Degree College in Indurkani upazila.

Contacted, principals of the three colleges said they are taking the money for examination hall fees.

There is no scope of taking any money after filling up of forms of the examination as all the monetary processes of exam ended after filling up of forms, said Md Anwarul Azim, controller of examinations of Barisal Board.
