A cultural body today sought extra hours for outdoor celebration of Bangla New Year, Pahela Baishakh, which has been limited by the law enforcing agencies.

Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, in a press conference held at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University, said the deadline to pack up by 5:00pm “is unjustified” and demanded that the limit be extended to 8:00pm.

The government has instructed all cultural and other organisations to conclude celebrations and programmes at open places by 5:00pm on the Pahela Baishakh at April 14.

They also condemned the killing of Rangpur special public prosecutor Rathish Chandra Bhowmik.
