Eid holidays of Benapole customs, port staff shortened

National Board of Revenue has cancelled Eid holidays, except the Eid day, for the customs and port staff in Benapole Land Port.

Customs Commissioner in Benapole Shawkat Hossain said the decision was taken to carry on import and export of goods without break.

Benapole Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agents Association President Mofizur Rahman Sazan said the NBR's decision will not have any impact as importers show little interest in unloading goods during holidays as the port authority takes extra charges.

Land port sub-committee of India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Motiar Rahman said that no trucks ply for a week during Eid.
