‘Dui Bangla’ Int’l Mother Language Day celebration kicks off at DU

A solidarity programme combining the ‘Dui Bangla’ celebrating the International Mother Language Day kicked off today in the premises of the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka.

With the slogan, ‘International Mother Language Day: Harmony of Two Bengals’, the nine-day programme started the celebrations, according to a press release of Dhaka University.

Dhaka University, Kolkata Saint Xavier's College and Banga Literature Association together arranged this programme, according to the press release.

Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University paid tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the martyrs of the Language movement and said that the youth has to come forward to maintain the honor of the Bangla language.

Each year this program is held marking the International Mother Language Day on February 21.
